We are delighted to present two audiovisual commissions inspired by films from our music strand, Setting Pace. The musicians selected are Nova Scotia The Truth and Gabriella Liandu. Join us in celebrating these two young Black female artists, enjoy the world premieres of both pieces, and hear about their creative process.
Gabriella’s new creative piece ‘Sonder’ will be premiering Friday 22nd Oct at Africa In Motion Film Festival.
The piece is an audio-visual film that celebrates how the things in life that make us different can also connect us, and acknowledges that every passer-by is on a journey, with a life filled with their own complexities.
Gabriella will also be talking about her four-minute film and the creative process behind it, and answering questions after the première.
She was commissioned to make the film for the annual film festival, which typically takes place in Scotland, and will run online until 31 October this year. The objective of the AiM festival is to introduce Scottish audiences to African cinema, and to overcome the underrepresentation of African film in British film-going culture.
Join Gabriella, alongside Nova Scotia the Truth on Friday at 7pm for the INNER VISIONS exclusive Africa in Motion Music Commissions Premier, curated by Josh Kilimanjaro, where Nova and Gabriella will talk about their pieces, what inspired the process and screen both films with a Q&A.
Tickets are FREE - sign up is required.
